ABOUT THE BOOK

Beat bloat and discomfort with the scientifically proven, easy-to-follow, low-FODMAP plan. Have you ever heard of FODMAPs? They are sugars found in certain foods that can be hard to digest, and can cause discomfort, gas, and IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) symptoms. Some of the most nutritious foods around are high in these sugars, frustrating people who eat well but still have tummy issues. Apples, garlic, onions, beans, dairy, bread, and cereals are on that list. Converts who have tried the science-supported diet swear by it. In addition to useful everyday advice, the book includes:

  • The differences and similarities between this diet and a gluten-free diet
  • 7-day sample menu plan with recipes
  • Simple and easy recipes for the basic items you need to adapt to fit into the low-FODMAP diet, including staples like salad dressing, marinade, and dips
  • Clear explanations for the science behind the low-FODMAP diet and why it works

Do you have bloating, indigestion, irregular bowel movements, abdominal puffiness, or digestive discomfort? Healthy Gut, Flat Stomach is a ground-breaking good-gut guide to flatten your belly and feel fantastic. Danielle Capalino is an exceptionally gifted nutritionist who applies her talents and skills to help clients overcome intestinal distress. I am a dietetic intern studying to become a Registered Dietitian. I came across research regarding FODMAPs throughout my studies and always thought that I should try a low-FODMAP diet plan to identify some digestive issues I experience. The plans and books on the topic were interesting, but overwhelming. I have not found a resource as comprehensive yet approachable as “Healthy Gut, Flat Stomach.” I read it cover to cover as soon as it arrived and continue to refer to it daily! After reading it, I finally felt prepared to tackle the plan! Danielle explains the science and research clearly. But, even more importantly, she makes the plan seem manageable and doable. All the research in the world means nothing without the tools for implementation! She provided the guidance I needed to feel capable of following the plan on my own. I am three days in and I feel great. The recipes are delicious and satisfying; I have made the cinnamon sweet potatoes, the farmhouse frittata, and the chocolate chip banana breakfast cookies. I highly recommend this book!

Best book by far compared to all the others!! Easy to understand and follow. Recently diagnosed with IBS and put on FODMAP diet by my Dr., I bought every book I could find about this very complicated diet. So I have practically read them all. While the others seemed to either be too wordy or confuse me more, This book actually simplifies the diet and gives you a more definitive plan to follow. It Walks you through three steps of elimination, reintroducing foods and pinpointing the foods that trigger your individual symptoms. It is easy to understand and fully explains what fodmaps are and breaks down each one. It provides an actual meal plan and grocery lists. It is condensed and to the point and takes only a short time to read. If you want to delved into the FODMAP diet, really understand it, do it simply, and learn how to personalize it for you, this is the only book you will need. The recipes are great too.
